Israel Sets Up a New Wall and Concertina Wire Barrier

Israel installs new security barrier with concertina wire

Israel has begun construction of a new barrier fence between the northern West Bank and its territory. According to Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, the new fence will include a protective wall, as well as technical controls - video surveillance systems, alarms and other things. The new fence will be additionally equipped with razor wire in the form of concertina wire barriers.

“Thus, we have strengthened the defense of our side lines,” the Israeli defense minister added, referring to a series of Palestinian attacks launched from the West Bank that left several people injured in Israeli cities in March-April. The new barrier will replace the first barbed wire fence built in the area over 20 years ago, which is now obsolete. The first part of the new concertina wire barrier will be 45 km long and nine meters high.
